Early Childhood Education
Teaching is a profession that demands commitment and vocation. Early Childhood Education, in particular, requires deep sensitivity and solid knowledge, as it focuses on one of the most delicate stages of development with the greatest potential in life. Therefore, to work with children it is necessary to have adequate pedagogical and didactic training . If you want to become an educator, you will have to study the Higher Degree in Early Childhood Education.
WHAT STUDIES DO YOU NEED TO WORK IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION?
Early Childhood Education comprises the first 6 years of children’s lives. This educational level is divided into 2 stages that are not compulsory, but voluntary. The first cycle of 0 to 3 years is developed in nursery schools, while the second cycle of 3 to 6 years is taught in Early Childhood Education centers or Early Childhood and Primary Education schools.
To work in either of these two teaching cycles, current regulations indicate that you must have at least a Higher Technician in Early Childhood Education degree . When you graduate, you will be able to practice in formal or non-formal education, as well as in childcare social services.
You will be able to work as a child educator under the supervision of a teacher , either in private institutions or dependent on state, regional and local agencies. You can also join institutions and / or work programs with young children at social risk or intended to provide family support.
Outside of formal education, another range of job opportunities opens up if you decide to study Early Childhood Education. You will be able to work as an educator in toy libraries , leisure centers, houses of culture, libraries and / or school farms.
WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS TO STUDY THE HIGHER DEGREE IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION?
To study a Higher Degree Professional Training in Early Childhood Education at a distance or face-to-face with direct access, you must meet one of the following requirements:
- Have a Baccalaureate degree or an accrediting certificate that indicates that you have passed all the Baccalaureate subjects.
- Have passed the second year of any modality of experimental Baccalaureate.
- Have a Technical degree (Medium Degree Professional Training).
- Have a title of Superior Technician, Specialist Technician or its equivalent for academic purposes.
- Have passed the University Orientation Course (COU).
- Have a university degree or equivalent.
If you do not meet any of the above requirements , you have the possibility of accessing Early Childhood Education studies by means of a test. In that case, you will have to have passed the entrance exam to Higher Degree Training Cycles or the entrance exam to the University for those over 25 years of age.
In addition to the formal requirements to study a Higher Degree in Early Childhood Education, to become a good educator it is important that you be passionate about working with children, since you will spend a large part of your day with them. You must have patience, motivation, creativity and a special sensitivity to understand young children and encourage their development.
HOW TO STUDY EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION?
